Actions and their (lack of) consequences

Reflection on the Hidden Brain podcast about outrage in tribal vs online societies. In tribal societies, outrage had direct consequences. Technology broadened the boundaries but consequences don't equally extend — a controversial rumour online may be rewarded by recommendation systems. Now extend this into the metaverse: actors can create their own realities. If moderation was a nightmare on social networks, it'll be impossible in the metaverse.
